Ahoy, mateys! Set sail on a hands-on history adventure as students join a pirate crew and discover what life was really like during the Golden Age of Piracy. Through fun weekly missions, kids will learn about pirate ships, navigation, treasure maps, secret codes, and the stories of real pirates like Blackbeard and Anne Bonny. Along the way they’ll build ships, design maps, decode messages, and keep their own pirate logbook. The adventure ends with an exciting treasure hunt where students must use everything they’ve learned to uncover hidden treasure!

This class allows students the chance to explore and express their creativity in a variety of ways – building with Legos, sculpting with clay, writing stories, making slime, and more – all in a laid-back, (mostly) student-led environment.

Students will learn basic and advanced digital photography. Teacher will assist students with understanding ways to elevate snapshot photography. *Students need a phone / tablet / digital camera and an SD/micro SD card, 32G.

Students will learn about film genres and elements of good storytelling with the goal of creating a short lego stop motion film. Students will workshop their ideas with brainstorming sessions, guiding worksheets, storyboarding, group feedback and teacher guidance. Completion of these workshopping steps is required before moving into lego building and production (ie. the first couple classes will have very little lego building or recording). Students will then learn the basics of stop motion, developing their technical skills and creativity. No previous technical experience or equipment is needed, but students MUST bring their patience to class with them and be willing to work on this skill. Stop motion can be very tedious but the result is very rewarding!

We will use a combination of available legos, and some new purchases (decided as a class and within a limited budget). Students are welcome to bring sets from home to showcase in their film.

Get your sneakers ready and your brain gears turning! This course will help build fitness habits and physical literacy through fun, structured movement, team games, and essential health concepts.They will explore different elements of physical fitness, including strength, endurance, and flexibility as well as how nutrition plays an important role in how our brains and bodies function. We will also discuss basics on hygiene practices, safety/first aid, and healthy stress management.

Come explore the art of botanical printing using leaves, flowers, herbs, and other natural materials. Students will create beautiful prints on paper and fabric while learning techniques such as leaf printing, flower pounding, cyanotypes, eco-printing, and natural dyeing. Each week focuses on a creative project that blends art, nature study, and experimentation, allowing students to build a unique portfolio of botanical artwork to take home and display.

Students will learn basic rhythm concepts through bucket drumming: keeping a steady beat; understanding tempo (fast vs. slow); playing quarter notes, eighth notes, and simple rests; and counting rhythms aloud (e.g., “1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &”).

Learn beginner sewing techniques with Miss Mimi! This is for students with an interest in sewing but do not have any previous experience.

IF CLASS MINIMUM IS NOT MET, THE SEWING CLASSES WILL BE COMBINED*

Students will learn the basics of crochet such as various stiches, yarn, hooks, and pattern reading. Students who know the basics will further their skills by learning more complex patterns. Most students will be able to complete 1-2 projects. Teacher will supply patterns and hooks for class use. *Students will need 1-2 skeins of yarn to begin class (example: worst weight 4-7 oz, appropriate hook size H, any color or brand).

Explore life’s greatest enigmas with a unique approach to critical thinking as your family investigates questions, theories, and possibilities behind mysteries like the Lost Colony of Roanoke, Atlantis, the Loch Ness Monster, the Ark of the Covenant, Stonehenge, Amelia Earhart, and more. 

In the student notebooks, you’ll also explore the mysteries, images, and symbolism of the book of Revelation, verse by verse, working through interpretations while leaving room for meaningful family discussion and thoughtful conclusions. Add in a daily forensic science page (fingerprints, DNA, interviewing, and evidence analysis) plus a Language Arts page where students choose a mystery and develop their own theory or ending.

Students will get a Student book to work on outside of class – completion is between the parents and students. The cost of the notebooks ($25) is included in the cost of the class.

This hands-on class introduces the foundations of citizenship, leadership, laws, and the United States government through interactive simulations, debates, games, and creative projects. Instead of simply reading about government, students will experience it firsthand by participating in mock elections, courtroom trials, constitutional conventions, leadership challenges, and collaborative problem-solving activities.

Students will learn about chords and reading music, practicing ukulele chord formations and basic strumming patterns.

Learn to sew with Miss Mimi! This is an intermediate sewing course for students who know how to use a sewing machine. Students in this class will learn to use a serger – sew and finish seams accurately and quickly! These skills will elevate the students sewing skills allowing them to complete projects like a pro!

The pre-requisite for this class is Miss Mimi’s Beginner Sewing class or relevant experience.

This is a Bible Study class for teens to deepen their understanding of the Word of God, taught by the pastor of New Lebanon Church. The students will help shape the topics covered with their feedback and questions, and an effort made to meet them where they are in their journey and respond to their needs.
