[Gr. 5+] Lego Stop Motion

Description

Students will learn about film genres and elements of good storytelling with the goal of creating a short lego stop motion film. Students will workshop their ideas with brainstorming sessions, guiding worksheets, storyboarding, group feedback and teacher guidance. Completion of these workshopping steps is required before moving into lego building and production (ie. the first couple classes will have very little lego building or recording). Students will then learn the basics of stop motion, developing their technical skills and creativity. No previous technical experience or equipment is needed, but students MUST bring their patience to class with them and be willing to work on this skill. Stop motion can be very tedious but the result is very rewarding!

We will use a combination of available legos, and some new purchases (decided as a class and within a limited budget). Students are welcome to bring sets from home to showcase in their film.
